Lean

5S (Workplace Organization)

- Set in order: Arrange needed items for easy use and return.

Six Sigma (DMAIC basics)
What it is: A data-driven discipline for reducing variation and defects using the DMAIC sequence—Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control. Requires measurement and an analytic mindset.
Use when: The problem involves measurable defects or variation that materially affects customers, costs, or safety and when you have reliable data or can collect it.
- Start with a scaled DMAIC: keep Define and Measure lean—use simple process maps (SIPOC), a clear problem statement, and a small set of measures.
- Use run charts and basic summary statistics before complex tests. For tiny samples, focus on root‑cause exploration and improving process controls rather than heavy hypothesis testing.
