Score each attribute honestly—the goal is to prioritize tasks that are safe, repeatable, likely to improve throughput or reduce risk, and acceptable to operators. Save the evaluation, then use the Pilot Checklist to plan a focused, measurable pilot.

Describe the work, parts, tooling, any human steps, and environmental context (floor, line, cell).
How many people are normally involved?
Average time per cycle for the task. Useful for throughput calculations.
1 = low repeatability (lots of variation), 5 = highly repeatable
1 = unlikely to improve throughput, 5 = likely large throughput gain
1 = low hazard, 5 = high hazard (frequent strain, pinch points, heavy lifting, exposure)
1 = low defect impact, 5 = high impact (customer-critical dimensions, safety-critical features)
1 = simple pick/place, 5 = complex fixturing or delicate handling
Consider temperature, dust, washdown, lighting, fumes. 1 = minimal constraints, 5 = severe constraints
1 = stable (same part/fixture), 5 = frequent changeovers or variants
1 = low readiness (no trained support/spares), 5 = fully ready (trained techs, spares, MTTR known)

Best guess or estimate for planning; capture baseline separately.

A focused pilot should cover safety, quality, measurement, and acceptance.
Use this script when talking with operators: explain why the pilot matters, expected benefits, safety steps, how their expertise shapes the pilot, and what success looks like. Capture key concerns and commitments.
Define measurable acceptance criteria: e.g., >= X% throughput gain, <= Y% defect rate, no safety incidents, operator sign-off.
