Use this interactive workbook to map current-state flow, quantify lead times and wastes, design a clear future-state, and create an action tracker your team can follow. Complete the sections below and save your progress. Keep answers concise; you can return and update anytime.

Give the process a concise name (e.g., 'Order to Cash - small orders').
Where does the process start? (e.g., 'Customer order received').
Where does the process end? (e.g., 'Invoice paid & archived').
List people and roles involved in the process.
Date of this mapping session.
List each step in sequence. For each step include: step name | who does it | processing time | wait time | typical batch size. Example: 'Inspect received goods | Warehouse | 15 min | 2 hrs | batch 50'.
Record totals or copy a calculated ladder: total processing time, total wait time, total lead time, and ratio of value-added time to lead time.
Sum of active processing times across steps.
Sum of waits, queues, handoffs.
Check wastes you observed. Select all that apply.
Describe other wastes or examples.
List 1–3 plausible root causes for the biggest waits or defects.
Describe the desired future state in measurable terms (e.g., reduce lead time from 5 days to 2 days).
List improvements you can test within 30 days.
Operational, regulatory, or technical constraints to consider.
Describe a concrete action tied to the future state.
E.g., lead time, first-pass yield, on-time delivery, inventory days.
