Reusable Tools & Templates Index
A curated, task‑organized index of ready-to-use templates, checklists, calculators, runbooks and workshop kits to speed discovery, design experiments, capture evidence, and preserve learning — with one-line descriptions, recommended decks, ownership guidance, and contribution instructions.
Welcome — find the right artifact fast
This index groups reusable artifacts by the tasks teams commonly perform during discovery and innovation work. Each entry includes a one-line description and recommended decks (collections or toolkits) to use it with. Pick a template as a starting point, then tailor and record local changes so your team builds practical institutional learning instead of one-off documents.
How this index is organized
Task-focused categories help you find artifacts that match the work you’re doing. Categories include framing, experiments, prototyping, research, measurement, and operations/runbooks. Use the recommended decks as sensible starting collections.
Framing & Strategy
- Opportunity Framing Canvas — A concise one-page canvas to describe the opportunity, target user, assumptions, and desired outcomes. Recommended decks: Discovery Deck, Strategy Deck.
- Problem Statement Template — Structured problem definition to align stakeholders on scope, impact, and constraints. Recommended decks: Discovery Deck, Leadership Briefing Deck.
- Stakeholder Map — Visual template to identify stakeholders, influence and information needs. Recommended decks: Workshop Facilitation Deck.
- Assumption & Risk Tracker — Short table to record key assumptions, confidence, and mitigation actions. Recommended decks: Experimentation Deck, Risk Management Deck.
Experiment Design & Running
- Hypothesis & Experiment Design Worksheet — Fields for hypothesis, success criteria, variants, sample size, and run plan. Recommended decks: Experimentation Deck, A/B Test Deck.
- Experiment Runbook — Step-by-step checklist for launching, monitoring, and stopping an experiment. Recommended decks: Experimentation Deck, Operations Deck.
- Learning Capture Template — Short post-experiment report that records evidence, insights, and next steps. Recommended decks: Experimentation Deck, Learning Deck.
Prototyping & Validation
- Rapid Prototype Checklist — Practical items to prepare prototypes for testing (scope, fidelity, tools, safety). Recommended decks: Prototyping Deck.
- Usability Test Script — Reusable script for moderated usability sessions with prompts and tasks. Recommended decks: Research Deck, Prototyping Deck.
- Prototype Feedback Log — Simple sheet to capture observations, quotes, and severity. Recommended decks: Prototyping Deck.
User & Market Research
- Research Plan Template — Purpose, questions, methods, target participants, timeline and deliverables. Recommended decks: Research Deck.
- Interview Guide — Semi-structured guide with warm-up, core questions, probes, and closing. Recommended decks: Research Deck.
- Survey Builder — Question bank and simple scoring guidance for short, valid instruments. Recommended decks: Research Deck, Data Deck.
Measurement, Metrics & Analysis
- Metrics Tracker — Time-series tracker (targets, baseline, current, trend, notes). Recommended decks: Measurement Deck, Analytics Deck.
- Experiment Analysis Template — Checklist and table for evaluating results against success criteria and statistical notes. Recommended decks: Experimentation Deck, Analytics Deck.
- Decision Record (ADR) — Short architectural/strategic decision record capturing context, options, decision and consequences. Recommended decks: Strategy Deck.
Workshops & Facilitation Kits
- Workshop Kit: Design Sprint Lite — Agenda, materials list, and facilitators notes for a compact sprint. Recommended decks: Workshop Facilitation Deck.
- Ideation & Prioritization Pack — Templates for idea capture, impact/effort scoring, and prioritization matrix. Recommended decks: Discovery Deck, Workshop Facilitation Deck.
Operations, Runbooks & Governance
- Runbook / Playbook Template — Steps, roles, and escalation for repeatable operational tasks. Recommended decks: Operations Deck.
- Template Governance Checklist — Guidelines for reviewing, approving, versioning and retiring templates. Recommended decks: Governance Deck.
How to use and adapt a template
- Copy the template into your team space — never edit the canonical library file directly.
- Tailor fields and language to your local context, record what changed, and name the file with a version and owner.
- Run the artifact in a real workflow, capture actual evidence of use, and add a short ‘lessons learned’ note to help others.
Ownership, review cadence & metadata
Each artifact should have an assigned owner, a short description, tags (category, discipline, risk level), a last-reviewed date, and a suggested review cadence (e.g., 6 or 12 months). Use these fields so teams can find up-to-date tools and avoid reusing outdated templates.
Contribute or request a template
See the Template Contribution Guide (linked in the library) for how to propose new artifacts or updates. If you need a template added quickly, contact the library owner and include: purpose, recommended deck, suggested owner, and a sample file or draft. (An interactive submission form will be added to streamline requests.)
Recommended decks (starter sets)
- Discovery Deck — templates for framing, stakeholder mapping, and ideation.
- Experimentation Deck — hypothesis, experiment runbooks, and learning capture.
- Prototyping Deck — prototypes, test scripts, and feedback logs.
- Research Deck — research plans, interview guides, and survey builders.
- Measurement Deck — metrics trackers, analysis templates, and reporting guidance.
- Workshop Facilitation Deck — agendas, kits, and facilitation tips.
Quick tips
- Prefer small, testable templates over long documents that never change.
- Record who adapted a template and why — this is valuable institutional memory.
- Bundle related artifacts into a toolkit (e.g., Experimentation Toolkit) so teams can acquire and tailor a working set at once.
If you can’t find what you need, request a new artifact or propose a toolkit. The library is a living resource — use it, adapt it, and help it improve.
