Use this template to create concise, actionable digital work instructions that workers will follow and learn from on the job. Keep steps short, include only essential safety and quality checks, and attach brief images or short videos for critical motions. The quick quiz helps confirm understanding; the competency checklist supports supervisor sign-off.

Short descriptive name (e.g., Change die on Press X).
One or two sentences describing the outcome, quality goal, and customer impact.
Who performs this (operator, technician, etc.).
Typical duration when performed correctly.
List only essential safety actions that must never be skipped. Note PPE and lockout/tagout requirements.
Include exact part numbers, tool sizes, and quantities.
Conditions that must be true before starting (e.g., machine off, ambient temp).
Write concise action-oriented steps. Keep each step to one action. Reference images or short videos inline by using [img:filename] or [video:filename]. Consider grouping into micro-steps for new learners.
Describe go/no-go checks, measurements, tolerances, and expected results. Example: 'After Step 3, measure pressure — must be 4.0±0.2 bar.'
How to know the task was done correctly (quality signs, measurements, functional tests).
List filenames or links. Prefer images for single-step clarity and keep videos under 60 seconds per step when possible. Note if captions are required for accessibility.
Author three multiple-choice questions that test critical safety and quality steps. Provide the correct answer after each question on a new line preceded by 'Answer:'. Example format: 1) What is the correct PPE for this task? A) Gloves only B) Gloves and safety glasses C) Respirator Answer: B
Select items that the performer must demonstrate or the supervisor must confirm.
E.g., v1.0 — include date in notes.
Name and role of the person responsible for the instruction.
Recommended periodic review cadence (e.g., 6 months).
Links to procedures, drawings, or change history.
