Governance & Huddle Playbook — Checklist to sustain daily decisions
Use this short checklist to ensure daily huddles and governance turn data into follow-through and learning.
Before the huddle
- Live metrics are available and trusted for the last shift (OEE, top downtime reasons, critical quality flags).
- Dashboard owner confirmed and reachable during the huddle.
During the huddle (15 minutes)
- Start with safety and one quick positive highlight (30 seconds).
- Review top 2 metrics and any red alerts (2–4 minutes).
- Surface 1–3 problems, name a single owner for each, and set a measurable target or immediate containment action (8 minutes).
- Record who will follow up, when, and where the evidence of closure will be stored.
Escalation & governance
- Define thresholds that trigger escalation to the next governance level (e.g., >X minutes downtime on a bottleneck).
- Weekly governance meeting reviews unresolved huddle items older than the SLA and approves resources for experiments.
- Maintain a visible board (digital or physical) with open items, owners, due dates, and outcomes.
Huddle quality checks (weekly)
- At least 80% of huddle actions completed within the SLA.
- At least one experiment started or evaluated each week that aims to remove a recurring loss.
- Operators and maintenance confirm data used in huddles matches their observations (spot checks).
Use this checklist to convert daily observations and alerts into owned experiments and closed improvements. Huddles are the engine that turns data into daily decision-making — keep them short, focused, and accountable.
